On October 30th, 2001 Jason had a car accident. After it, he could no longer move. Diagnosis: T12-L1 Incomplete Spinal Cord Injury. Only 15% of his spinal cord was still intact on the right side. He had a steel rod inserted in his spine during the first surgery, and a metal plate was inserted into his right femur.
On January 1st, 2007, he began his treatment: umbilical cord stem cell injected into the spinal cord fluid and intravenously too, with Nerve Growth Factor.
Before the treatment

Jason was able to move his right leg, but suffered from chronic spasms in it and in his right hip. They felt like charley horses that last for 30 seconds to a minute each time. He had no sensitivity from about two to three inches under his waist, but his feet did sweat.

After the treatment
He got more movement in his right leg and, for the first time, in his left leg. The sensitivity extended down to his buttocks. Pain and spasms were reduced and he stopped taking Zanaflex.
After Jason returned home, his bladder control improved. His back - and his trunk in general - had more tone and muscle control. The muscles in his legs, too, developed more mass: as a consequence, he gained a better balance.
