Hungary, 9 years old

Nora was a premature baby who was born after a 25 week pregnancy which caused a serious stroke resulting in damage to the corpus callosum and cortex. Diagnosis: Epilepsy.

Surgery followed two weeks later, and a ventriculoperitoneal shunt was implanted on her. Her parents had heard about other Hungarian babies with similar problems getting improvement from the Beike treatment, so they decided to try it. Treatment: umbilical cord stem cells injections, both intrathecal and intravenous. Start of treatment on june 17th, 2006

Before the treatment

She understood everything but could not speak, only able to say vowels like “a” and “o”. As a matter of fact, Nora was mentally handicapped, with the mental abilities of a two to three years old child. Her attention span being quite short, her parents had to repeat things twenty to thirty times for her to remember them. In general, Nora did not obey commands. She could only pay attention to the TV for five or ten minutes.

From a physical point of view, walking was possible but not in a stable manner – furthermore, fine motor skills were lacking. She was not toilet-trained and could not chew food.

At least Nora’s epilepsy was balanced by Trileptal and Lamictal, so there were no attacks at all.

After the treatment

On august 11th, Nora could focus on objects longer. She watched her favorite video twice a day for one hour. She was able to follow a story better than before and obeyed commands. Mobility improved, and Nora was able to walk, run and jump better.

Email - september 17th

“We are very happy that we chose this option to go for stem cells treatments.

First of all, her personality has been changing in a positive direction. She is very nice, affectionate, giving lots of kisses to everybody whom she loves. Everyday we can see new improvements in her. For example, she tries to do things independently, like drinking her milk absolutely by herself. She could not do this before and she is now very proud to be able to do so.
She is now very calm, no trace of the fits of anger that she had before the treatment. It's very easy to teach her, because she understands and memorizes things in an instant, and it's not necessary to tell her again and again.

She can walk much better than before. She can tolerate uneven ground well but there is a problem with her Achilles' tendon. It's too short and because of this she sometimes walks on tiptoe. I hope that the massage will help her to expand her Achilles' tendons. She can jump on two legs in quick succession, before the treatment she could jump only one time. Now she can jump so much that she can do it all through a big room. In other words, her stability has become much better.
The toilet training and speech are the same as before and there are no significant changes in these two areas.

The best thing is that we can discover small new changes everyday. And all the people can tell at a glance that Nora has became much more intelligent. We plan to go back for another treatment at the end of December (after Christmas) or at the beginning of January.”
