Romania, 27 years oldIn 1995, when Razvan was in high school, he had a very serious accident when diving into a river: he was paralyzed from the neck down and only able to move his eyes, nothing else. Diagnosis: C5-C6 incomplete spinal cord injury. Within 24 hours, he had surgery by Dr. G. Panoze. Once recovered from surgery, he began following a complete daily rehabilitation program (massage, kinetotherapy, physiotherapy and acupuncture) at the physical recovery section of Poiana Campina Hospital.
Before the treatment
Razvan had some sensitivity down to his chest (let's say 50% for touch and temperature), but further down he couldn't feel his body at all. He could move all parts of his arms but his fingers. He could raise his hands up almost to shoulders' height. He could stand up on his feet, but with support. It was possible for him to hold his urine only for a few seconds.

Razvan arrived in Shenzhen on february 25th, 2006, to undergo a treatment based on umbilical cord stem cells integrated by nerve growth factors.
After the treatment
Treatment ended on march 31st, 2006. At that point, Razvan could feel his body all the way down to his feet, with almost 70% of skin's sensitivity for touch and temperature. He felt warm in his legs where there was nothing before and after awhile he was even able to move his feet, albeit slightly.
He had sensitivity in all the surface of his hands instead of a mere 50%. He could move his fingers repeatedly, and the first two fingers of both arms recovered the possibility of feeling pain. He could contract his stomach muscles, a thing that he could not do before. He was able to hold his urine from five to seven minutes, and his bowels functionality improved.

Update
E-mail from Razvan - June 8th, 2006
"It's eight weeks since I returned home and my situation has continued to improve. My hands can move much better, I have more power in my hands and in my legs as well. Now I can move my fingers every day for at least ten times. I can stay on my feet for one to two hours with assistance and some support for my knees. When I am on my feet, I have more stability than before. I can make a lot more movement with my hands and with my body, because my abdominal muscles and my back muscles are stronger than before. When I lay down on the bed I can move my feet a little and I do this twice a day. My sensitivity has improved and I can feel my legs and all my body now. I can even feel warm and cold. I still feel that sensation of having thousands of needles moving in by body all the time. Now I can control my urine for 10 minutes and the sensation for both urine and stool is much better. Generally, my entire body is more powerful than before".
